Department of Social Work

Judith Phoenix, LCSW, has been a medical social worker at Watauga Medical Center for the past 7 plus years.  She specializes in Dialysis and Home Health.  Prior practice includes, working for Catawba County DSS and the Dept. of Health & Environmental Control in South Carolina.  In 1995 she was  chosen  S.C, Œs   Public Health Social Worker of the year.     She has taught at ASU, Eastern Washington University and the University of Kentucky.  She worked in  England for 3 years both in practice and administration.  Ms Phoenix has presented and published several professional papers.  Her areas of interest include:  women and social work, The Women's Christian Temperance Union, agency training and pet therapy, She has co presented with Sierra, her  Certified Therapy Dog, now retired.  She is looking forward to teaching  a section of the BSW field seminar and having a graduate student at Dialysis.
